Love One Another

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this, all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.” John 13:34&35

That was Jesus' commandment that He gave while speaking to His disciples. He said love, as I have loved you.  How does Jesus love?
1)  He loves unconditionally (Romans 5:8)
2)  Sacrificially (2 Cor. 5:21)
3)  With forgiveness (Eph. 4:32)
4)  Eternally  (Romans 8:38-39)

Jesus' love is holy (spiritually pure).  The culmination of Jesus' amazing love for us is in His death on the cross, burial, and bodily resurrection (1 John 4:9-10). Believers are to love each other like that. HOW can we love like Christ?  HOW is that possible? The believer in Christ has the Holy Spirit living within him (1 Cor. 6:19-20).  By obeying the Spirit, through the Word of God, the believer can love as Christ loves.  Not just friends, family members etc... but even enemies! What??!!! Ugh!! How on earth? Well, we can't do it on our own!  In order to love like Christ, there must be a change of heart.  We must realize that we are sinners before God, understand that Christ died on the cross and rose again to provide forgiveness and make Christ our personal Savior.  At that point, we are forgiven through Christ and receive God's gift of eternal life.
To love one another is to love fellow believers as Christ loves us. Those who love like Christ in the Holy Spirit's power will give evidence that they are His disciples. GOD gives us the strength and ability to love others (Phil. 4:13).
So, my friends, THIS is what I'm working on....that God will change MY heart. Why? Because I want to please Him and obey His commandments. AND because He LOVES me! And He loves YOU too.

My Feathered Friend

Hello again, friends! I'm sharing another painting that I just finished last week. I used a  9 x 12 - 140 lb., Strathmore watercolor paper. I'm going to show you the rough sketch, then a couple shots of the what it looks like when I start the painting process. I sure wish I was savvy on technology, I would video my process. Maybe one of these days I'll work up the courage  gumption to try it!

I love all the layers it takes to achieve the effect I want.
Here's a shot of my painting before applying the background.
And here is the final painting! I hope you like it! I would love to see your comments below!
I will be linking this post with Jeanne's blog, "backyard neighbor" for Blue Monday. Please visit her and say hello as well as all the other bloggers who have linked with her post for Blue Monday.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!

"Let Everything that has Breath"
Hello, everyone! So glad you could stop by! Here is my latest creation on 140 lb. watercolor paper.

Once I drew the little girl, kitty and the little puppy, I then  used my neo-color watercolor crayons. Which I absolutely love these crayons! I also used gesso, pastels, Faber-castell markers, old hymnal paper, and ink.  I thought this verse from Psalms was very fitting.
Thanks for stopping by! I would love to hear from you! What have all my blog friends been up to?

WINNER! 1000+ Subscriber Give Away - Mixed Media Canvas

I Won a Giveaway on YouTube!

Hi all!!! I know! It's been a LONG time since I've blogged but hoping to get back to it. I sure hope I see some visits and comments from old (and new!) blog friends! My life has been so crazy busy and so much has happened.

But first, I wanted to share with you a mixed media canvas that I won from one talented Shel C. I found her on Youtube here:  www.youtube.com/user/ThePuzzledpeace. If you haven't heard of her...go see for yourself. She asked her subscribers to enter her giveaway by answering a few questions. One of the questions was, what is my favorite season? Another question, what are my favorite color combos and third, do I collect anything? Well, I said, Spring for the first question, my fav colors are pink, lavender and teal and third, I collect dog figurines and wind-up toys. So she created a mixed media canvas with those answers in mind! Oh! It is so darling!! When my package arrived my granddaughter was so anxious for me to open it! She was jumping up and down and clapping her hands when she saw it!! LOL! So cute!! Here are some photos I took of it.

Shel C also made this sweet card too!!

Isn't it the cutest???!!!  Dog figurines, teal, pink and lavender and spring flowers!!! LOVE IT!!!! Thank you SO much Shel C.
It is hanging right next to my painting that I painted in my bedroom. What do you all think?

Thank you again, Shel C!! And what a treat to be able to watch her create it (JUST FOR ME!) on Youtube! You can too!!!

I've been following her blog for quite sometime and saw that she was having a giveaway. Oh, was I thrilled about that! She was celebrating the fact she was one of the lucky, talented ladies that had been chosen to be published in the magazine, "Where Women Create". In her giveaway, she was generously giving a copy of the magazine AND one of her gorgeous creations called "Pet Park"!! So, of course, I entered!! Boy, was I ever shocked and thrilled and OVER the moon when I received an email from Jennifer that I had won!! Yippee!!! And when my wonderful prize came in the mail I was giddy and couldn't wait to open the box!!
I love this magazine!! Getting a sneak peak in some fantastic studios where extremely talented women create! I would LOVE to be in this magazine!

Here is the beautiful Ms. Jennifer! I LOVE her studio! So feminine!

You and Me by the Sea...

Hello again everyone. I hope all is well with you and you are getting to do things you love to do! I would love to hear what you're up to.
I am still feeling under the weather so my creating has been Slow.Slow.Slow. I've had an old (small) clipboard stashed away for quite awhile. I painted it with white gesso and once that dried, then I glued down pieces of scrap paper with matte medium. After the matte medium dried, I used acrylic paint here and there and let that dry. I then took bubble wrap and brushed paint over it and then stamped the clipboard. I stamped the clipboard with other stamps that I had on hand. I used brown and black StazOn ink.

I found this fish pin at a garage sale and the gold was a little too bright for me so I stained it here and there with alcohol ink. As you can see I didn't cover it completely.

I typed out the words: The only place I'd rather be is by the shore, you next to me.

The starfish in the corner is a metal button that I cut the back off so I could glue it down flat. I used E-6000 glue for that.

Another button and I glued flat-backed white bubble beads above him. :)

I put some old pearls into a little bottle and tied a string around the lid and attached this little metal clam that I found in my goodie stash.

The netting in the background is a piece of an old onion sack that I saved. It was a really pretty purple and I painted it brown and buff white.

I love this old print (on fabric).
And here is a view of the whole clipboard.  What do you think? I imagined this devoted dog (thinking in his mind, of course), saying these words to his owner. Do you have a dog devoted to you? Boy, I do! She doesn't want me out of her sight!
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you are enjoying the start of the month of June! Wow, did it get here fast!! And we are having gorgeous weather! I'm pretty happy about that!

Happy creating all!
